WHAT ARE WOOD PELLETS?
Wood pellets are made from wood fibre compressed under high pressure and extruded through a pellet press.
APPLICATIONS & BENEFITS
The process of pelletization removes moisture content and increases the density, yielding a fuel in the form of a wood pellet with an improved energy and bulk density. This reduces storage space and handling and transportation costs when compared to such matters for wood chips and other forms of fibre.
Wood pellets are a clean and consistent fuel and are increasingly being used as a renewable alternative to fossil fuels such as coal, gas, and coke, with both residential and commercial applications.
As wood pellets are derived directly from biomass they have a much lower environmental impact than fossil fuels. The use of wood pellets as a fuel greatly reduces additional carbon dioxide being added to the atmosphere.
